Discover Carlitos Café y Galería, the oldest multidisciplinary art presenter café bar venue in East Harlem. Carlitos offers a variety of traditional and exotic cocktails, beers, coffees and teas. At Carlitos one can view thought-provoking art exhibits, films, readings, poetry slams, traditional ceremonies, community discussions and other type of events created by the best of Latino, Latin American and Caribbean artists. One can always find interesting conversations with some of the most talented local artists and enjoy a happy hour atmosphere in a familiar community-based local bar.

Established in November, 2002 by an immigrant cultural activist woman from Bolivia in order to provide a platform where artist and community members can congregate to exchange ideas, collaborate and share resources, Carlitos is community landmark for East Harlem and a symbol for the cultural development and preservation of Latino culture.

Carlitos products and services reflect its philosophy. We support local artists, small and environmentally conscious businesses and local cooperatives that build sustainable social entrepreneurships within their communities. We buy and sell:

As gentrification affects East Harlem and as big chain businesses move in practically erasing small and family businesses from the map, Carlitos is still committed to conserving its grass roots and family oriented flavor. People like you can assure places like this still exist so please drop by for a mojito, check out the current exhibit, the weekly Tuesday open mic and enjoy the live music by some of the most talented under-grown artists New York City has to offer.
